I spend a lot of time working up in Fairbanks, and whenever I'm in the Interior, one stop is absolutely mandatory: The Hungry Robot. Fairbanks has a lot of unique characteristics, but finding genuinely incredible wood-fired pizza was a welcome surprise.

The interior of Alaska isn't exactly known for its culinary scene, which is what makes a place like this stand out so much. They master that perfect balance of a blistered, chewy crust with high-quality toppings. After a long day of work in the cold or just traveling the long northern highways, a hot pie from here is exactly what you need.

It's the kind of spot where you can tell the owners genuinely care about the craft. The dough is clearly fermented right, and the fire in the oven is dialed in. Whether you go for a classic pepperoni or one of their specialty pies, it rarely disappoints.

It's casual, straightforward, and consistently excellent. If you are passing through Fairbanks on your way to the haul road, or just spending a few days exploring the Golden Heart City, do yourself a favor and grab a slice. You'll quickly understand why it's my usual stop.
